History of Temple Emanu-El
Temple Emanu-El is a liberal Reform congregation, home to some 250 families. Our history reveals a proud record of leadership in social issues and inclusive membership policies.

Founded in 1961, we are, to all appearances, a typical suburban temple. Unlike most, we have been molded by a rabbi passionately committed to social justice and inclusiveness, who has frequently taken stands on grounds of conscience, regardless of community approval. The character of Rabbi Alfred Landsberg's leadership has produced a commitment to learning and an acceptance of others, not as we would like them to be, but exactly as they are.

In June 2006, Rabbi Landsberg retired and became the first Rabbi Emeritus at Temple Emanu-El.

In July 2006 Rabbi Deborah Bravo became the Temple Emanu-El's full time rabbi and has been leading the congregation in prayer, song and spirit since that time.
