I am very excited to get to be a part of the TEE community. It is a very special place!
I have worked as a Jewish Educator and Youth Director for more than 15 years. I also have more than two decades of experience as a Preschool Educator and School Director. I am happy to put all of the skills I obtained in those positions to good use helping to keep the TEE community strong and vibrant.
I live in Scotch Plains with my husband, son, and four step children.

Lisa McNerney - Religious School Director
My name is Lisa McNerney and I am the new Director of Education at Temple Emanu-El. I recently relocated from South Florida where I was in Jewish education for almost 30 years. I had a variety of responsibilities administratively as well as in the classroom, youth groups, retreats, programming and Bar/Bat Mitzvah training. One of my greatest pleasures was making connections to the students and their families. I also experienced Jewish studies from the perspective of a student, while attending Solomon Schechter Day School from K-12th grade, here in New Jersey. My family belonged to Temple Beth El in Elizabeth while I was growing up. My claim to fame was being bat mitzvahed by Sally Priesand, the first female rabbi ordained by a rabbinical seminary!
My door is open to any questions, suggestions or just a hello! I am excited for this opportunity and am looking forward to meeting all of you. This is a time of new beginnings for many of us at Emanu-El, and I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful family!

Ellen Hochman - Communications Coordinator
Ellen Hochman grew up in Brooklyn, New York where she and her family were active members of the Flatbush Jewish Center. After earning an Associates Degree in Secretarial Science, Ellen began her career as an Administrative Assistant with JP Morgan Chase, where she worked for over 25 years. Ellen and her husband Mark have been living in Aberdeen, New Jersey for over 20 years and have two beautiful daughters, Adriana and Jessica. They are members of their local Temple, where their daughters were Bat Mitzvahed. In 2011 Ellen joined the Temple Emanu-El staff as the Administrative Assistant, and is happy being part of the Temple Emanu-El family. In her spare time Ellen enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music and dancing!
